A resident of Oro-Medonte, Debra is a self-taught mixed media artist whose unusual work reflects her on-going fascination with texture. Each piece is an intuitively blended composition of diverse elements including leather, metal, wood, stone, crystals and many other intriguing finds. Combinations of the various media create unique tactile pieces that stimulate the imagination, and she is always searching for new treasures to inspire the joy of experimentation and play.
Some of her new pieces incorporate an assortment of components harvested from an old dismantled piano, and she continues to use metal parts scavenged from a decaying farm implement discovered on a walk in the woods some time ago. The title of each assemblage is also carefully considered as it adds another interesting component and contributes to the cohesive presentation of the work.
As well as her mixed media wall work, Debra gets a kick out of making the odd bit of funky garden sculpture. You are welcome to visit year round by appointment.
